Statistical value chain and quality in official statistics.
Methods of data collection in official statistics:

• Modern approaches in survey methodology and censuses.
• Use of administrative sources.
• Integration of data from different sources.
• Specifics of data collection by domain.

Data processing in official statistics:

• Editing and estimation.
• Seasonal adjustment.

Dissemination of official statistics:

• Communication channels.
• Statistical disclosure control.
• Metadata.

Objectives and competences:
Course objective is to introduce students to the methods and tools used in the statistical value chain with the emphasis on the recent findings and open issues.
Competences:

• Use of official statistics methods and tools at a basic level;
• Ability to critically evaluate the importance and impact of methods and tools on quality in official statistics.

Intended learning outcomes:
Students will be able to design adequate basic methodologies for collection, processing and dissemination of official statistics data and use suitable statistical methods and other techniques in the statistical production process. They will develop a critical and creative attitude to modern methods and tools of official statistics by taking into account requirements and specifics of statistical domains and scope of available statistical methods.
