Prerequisites:
- Enrollment into the study programme.
Content (Syllabus outline):
- Elementary experiment designs: features, use, strengths and weaknesses. Analysis of variance: completely randomized design, randomized block design, latin square. Multiple comparisons, contrasts.
- Complex experiment designs: features, usability, strengths and weaknesses: factorial design, split-plot design, mixed models.
- Nonparametric alternatives.
Objectives and competences:
Students will become familiar with basic concepts of experimental design in technical engineering. This knowledge will be applied in seminar work on a practical problem.
Intended learning outcomes:
Students will learn about basic concepts of experimental design in technical engineering. They will be able to choose the appropriate response variable and appropriate statistical model. They will know how to collect the appropriate results of experiment, how to analyze them, and how to make a presentation of the results.
