Course type: compulsory
Lecturer: Tomaž Slivnik, Ph.D., Full Professor

Study programme and level Study field Academic year Semester
Applied statistics, second level Technical statistics 2nd 1st

For the timeline see Curriculum.

Prerequisites:

  • Enrollment into the study programme.

Content (Syllabus outline):

  • Sampling at process control and acceptance sampling (sampling plan, types of sampling plans, lot formation).
  • Basic concepts of statistical process control.
  • Process variability.
  • Basic properties and selection of control charts.
  • Different types of control charts (-chart, p- chart, np- chart, c- chart, u- chart,…).
  • Process problem solving and improvement.
  • Automated process control.
  • International standards.

Objectives and competences:
Students will become familiar with basic concepts of statistical process control in technical engineering. This knowledge will be applied in seminar work on a practical problem.

Intended learning outcomes:
Students will learn about basic concepts of statistical process control. They will be able to choose an appropriate type of control chart with appropriate control limits. They will know how to interpret obtained results of statistical analysis.
